Our oldest sister is ummmm a little ummm…..intense. For example, she once brought lit sparklers into the house to win a dessert contest. She once called her professor over Christmas break to change her grade from a B to an A. (Honestly, if I had been that professor, I would have bumped her down to a C for interrupting my Christmas, but she’s a better woman than I am.) And why wouldn’t she throw a first birthday party for her basset hound and ask several of her friends to drive a few hours to celebrate a canine?

So, when her first child was born, there was no way she was just going to throw him into a pumpkin suit for Halloween and call it a day. Nope. That just wouldn’t do. So, what’s a girl to do? Put him in 13 costumes and start “The 13 Days of Halloween”. Well, almost a decade later it is still happening and has become some people’s favorite part of the season.
Nine years of creativity, nine years of bribing children, nine years of more costume changes than Cher. We thought it would be fun for those of you that don’t know and don’t get the privilege of seeing these on Facebook every year to showcase some of the highlights. It also might give you some inspiration if you’re in need of a last-minute costume. Without further ado, bring on the wigs…
And please remember, this is merely a sampling. There’s a lot more where these came from.

Thanks for joining this trip down memory lane-a memory lane that’s chock full of wigs. Please comment with your favorite one. Our slightly intense sister would love to know!

Me! I am one of those people who look forward to all the costumes! Thank you Saralyn and Michael for entertaining us over the years!
Thanks, Ali!

You are cordially invited.
Oh my gosh!! That pose as the Tiger King! Has me cracking up.
ET, the Bachelor, Ace Ventura, Winnie the Pooh are all so creative.
Awesome and stressful…the pressure to continue coming up with ideas and the outfits! Ah! Your sister is impressive….but it all makes sense. From reading your blog I can tell it is all part of the genetics of your family! You guys are great!
What a nice comment! Thank you, Rachel!
Oh, my goodness! I can’t stop cracking up! But Randy Quaid is my very fave….Charlie actually looks just like Randy Quaid!
Thanks, Dell! You always have the best comments.
Castaway is my favorite. I laughed out loud.
Glad you could get a giggle.
Love Tiger King!!!!
That pose though.
As you know, I have almost created a Facebook again just to follow Saralyn for this content. These throwbacks are better than I anticipated (the quality level!! and the commitment!!). This made my whole day.
So creative and fun, I love all of the movie references! My favorites feature the adorable sidekick, a League of Their Own and ET!
Hope Saralyn will accept my friend request. I can’t miss these pics. They are so cute!
I MEAN!!! How do you even pick?! I did laugh out loud at the Risky Business one! Reidar can’t decide what to be this Halloween so I told him he now had a catalog to choose from!! These are so fun and so amazing! xox
THE BEST!!! 👏 This is what gets me through the dreaded month of October as a teacher!
These are so cute. I LOVE the Schitt’s Creek one. But they are all awesome.
