We thought we’d show the details from the gala 4 year old’s party we attended this weekend. Our niece, Laura Kate, turned 4, and if there is one thing this girl loves it’s a birthday. We actually had to sing “Happy Birthday” twice because she loves it so. Laura Kate has been through a lot in her short years, and this queen deserves to shell-ebrate. Hard. My sister, Saralyn, doesn’t take party planning lightly. She’s an enneagram 8. Eights are “The Challengers” meaning that she sees most things as an opportunity to prove her strength and dominate the situation. And dominate she will even if that opportunity is a four year old birthday party.

She made Laura Kate’s chocolate birthday cake.

And if chocolate cake doesn’t flip your fin, then you could have a vanilla cupcake.
Every flat surface in her house and in her front yard had some form of mermaid paraphernalia.

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly(fish).

How embarrassing would it have been if we didn’t have mermaid cups? Social suicide.

Saralyn was MOST upset because her usual bakery was booked for cookies. The nerve. Thankfully, more than one place was able to make mermaid tail cookies. That was a close call.

And if the pinata and general childhood merriment weren’t enough, there was a giant inflatable water slide for the guests to slide to the left or slide to the right. We weren’t as picky as DJ Casper.

It’s like an infomercial…but wait, there’s more. The Kona Ice Truck came by and played some instrumental Beach Boys and made our snow cone dreams come true.

This is basically Norm talking to Sam at Cheers.

I got margarita and went inside and sprinkled some pink Himalayan sea salt from Trader Joe’s on it, and it took me straight to Kokomo.

Happy Birthday, Laura Kate! The world doesn’t deserve you or your over the top birthday parties.

What a cute party!
