What an completely accurate portrayal. Now put on your earmuffs and lets give a salute to the season that makes me never want to move to Minnesota.
Something to Eat
My name is Caroline, and I’m beyond basic. Sue me. One of the best parts of winter is the food. Soup it up. This potato soup from Skinnytaste is always good. Throw me in this pot, and I’d be completely happy.
There is nothing better than coming home and knowing that dinner is already done. I really don’t mind cooking, but there’s something about getting home at 5:00 and knowing darkness is on its way that makes me not want to spend time in the kitchen. I hate the word ‘chili’, but I LOVE this buffalo chicken chili from PaleOMG. It’s one of my favorite parts of winter.
Something to Watch
No, I don’t want to watch Bridgerton. No, I don’t want to watch The Queen’s Gambit. No, I don’t want to watch Virgin River. (I tried, and it was the pits) Know what I want to watch? Happy TV. Do you know what made me happy? The 90’s.
That’s why I’ve been watching Designing Women and Mad about You on Amazon Prime. Burke/Reiser2024
I’m going to ditto Caroline’s “happy tv” sentiment. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is super cheesy, but man, it puts me in the best mood. Essentially, through a freak accident, Zoey can now know what people are thinking/feeling. How does she know? She hears their “heart song”. I know it sounds so dumb, but it’s wonderful. The song and dance numbers are so much fun, and I would love to work in the writer’s room of this show and help decide what songs they are going to use to convey certain emotions.
Something to Wear
I’ve mentioned this tunic sweatshirt from Old Navy before, but it’s worth mentioning again. All I wear is sweatshirts right now (I dress to impress), and this one is at the top of my list. It is pretty roomy, so you might want to go down a size.
I bought this coat last March when I went to Ireland on a whim, so I only wore it for the week I was there then it went into my closet because #Georgia. But man oh man, have I enjoyed it this winter.
Something to Buy
This has nothing to do with winter. Well, I guess winter is a great time to read, so there…I made a connection. If you were/are a Southern Charm fan, Cam wrote a book that comes out in February. No offense to Cam, but I’m thinking it’s not going to be up there with the writings of Hemingway, but I don’t want to read Hemingway anyways. I want to read this.
I’m not even going to try to make a connection to my “something to buy” and winter because I can’t. There’s no correlation. I just like it. I’ve started watching Mad Men and the fashion is my favorite part. I saw this beaut in Target and knew that Betty Draper would want me to have it.
Something to Do
I am a broken record about so many things on this blog, and one of those things is Chatbooks. I make one at the end of every year with all the picture highlights from those 12 months. I haven’t made 2020’s yet, so that’s my something to do. If you are someone who only keeps pictures are your phone, remedy that now and make one. They are simple to do, and you’ll love looking at them.
Our dad has a big birthday coming up next month. We just decided what the theme will be. You know we love a theme, so I need to get on Etsy and Amazon and start ordering. On that note, does anyone have any white patent leather boots they’d let me borrow? Or what’s the over/under on Nancy Sinatra reading our blog and loaning me some?
Enjoy the rest of winter, ladies. Next stop: Reese’s eggs.
