Y’all, it’s fall. Well, technically tomorrow is, but we’re getting a jump on things. It’s that wonderful time of year; that time when every time a white girl drinks a pumpkin spice latte, an angel gets its wings.
Let’s dive into our season somethings. Join us.

Something to Watch:

I am predictable in the fact that every fall I rewatch Gilmore Girls. That may sound incredibly boring, but it is the perfect show to watch this time of year. Repetitive? Yes. Comforting? Also yes. I remember a few years ago, our 4th grade team was in a our weekly meeting with our principal and naturally Gilmore Girls came up, and one of my fellow teachers had never seen it. My principal piped up with, “YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT. IT’S ALWAYS FALL THERE!” No wonder they made her principal. So true. That town seems like it’s always adorned with pumpkins and perfectly colored leaves.

Also, 2020 is about to redeem itself on October 13th because The Bachelorette is back! I’m not used to seeing Chris Harrison this time of year, but God is a provider, and I am thankful.

I’m not a big movie watcher, BUT my autumn is not complete without these two. Billy Crystal is impeccable. You want to hate him so much in this movie, but you can’t. The colors. The sweaters. The banter. Is it any wonder When Harry Met Sally won my March Gladness bracket?

I hate hate hate scary movies, but I can handle Hocus Pocus. It is so subtly funny. And it has Gary and Penny Marshall. What more does a person need?

Something to Wear:

Wrap me up in a cardigan, and I’m happy. This one is basically calling my name, and I think I’ll answer. “Add to cart.”

I’m not sure when my transition to Fran Drescher happened, but it did. And I’m not mad about it. I already had the laugh. Might as well add the leopard.

I ordered these pants from J. Crew Factory when they were on major sale. They have very limited sizes now, so these Amazon ones are pretty close and have good reviews. Find your inner Fran (or Carole Baskin just less murdery).

Is there anything better than kids in costumes? Not so much.

This was my favorite of Claire’s costumes so far-a Rockford Peach. She told me a while ago she wanted to be “something spooky-like a witch” this year. Ugh. I like cute not spooky. Well, last week she told me she wanted to be Spiderman. Let’s take it back to the witch, Claire.
I was thinking of dressing her and her sisters as the witches from Hocus Pocus, but I realllllly want to dress them as girls from Troop Beverly Hills and me be Phyllis Nefler. However, I don’t know that she will go for that. What’s your vote? Can any of our readers make me this?

My grandmother used to swear by Rusk hairspray. Ok, Lala. That’s for sure an “old lady brand”. But my hand to the heavens it’s my favorite hairspray ever. I should have known she knew best. She was sleeping on silk pillowcases LONG before influencers. This 12 in 1 treatment is one of my favorites. It smells great and repairs a lot of the damage from my curling wand and hair dryer.

Something to Eat:
Caroline
I feel like I should say something pumpkin, but I’ll save that for another day. I love this time of year because it means I can bring out the soup recipes. They make me happy. The other day it felt so good outside. I was outside with the girls and couldn’t believe how cool it was and came inside and declared that I was so disappointed in myself because I didn’t have what I needed to make potato soup, which is what the weather was beckoning me to eat. Mark rolled his eyes and went on with his day, but all I wanted was this.

Well I’ll hop on the pumpkin grenade. Last Friday I was going to get my coworker and me Starbucks. I was ordering on the app, so I could swing by and pick it up on the way to work. The app has the nutrition information along with what used be blissful ignorance. I was going to be basic and get my first PSL of the season, do you KNOW how much sugar is in a grande PSL? The amount of grams rhymes with nifty. And diabetes is not nifty, so I opted for an Americano with two pumps of sugar free cinnamon, and it was delightful. Since I didn’t have pumpkin in a cup, I’ll share this recipe. When I eat this pasta, it marks the official start of my fall. I look forward to eating it every time the leaves start to turn. Is that sad? Should I get out more?

Something to Do:

My something to do is to make my porch look just like this complete with a golden retriever.

Nah. That’s a bit overkill. Beautiful and picturesque, yes. However, I don’t want to deal with that many rotting gourds. Who would??? Instead I’ll put out a pumpkin or four and pretend it looks like that. And maybe one day I’ll have a golden retriever. I just have to get over how much they shed.

I need to begin the process of switching over my closet from summer to fall/winter. I have a love/hate relationship with this. I love seeing all the lovely sweaters and plaid that have been tucked away for months. But I hate it because inevitably when I do it, it will be 80 degrees again and I’ll be in flannel like a sweaty Al Borland.

If you haven’t changed yours over yet, might I suggest you read about how my closet is organized. It’ll change your life (Ok. Maybe not. But it’s pleasing to the eye).
If you don’t follow Trey Kennedy, do it now. This video alone proves his genius. Fallelujah!

Trey Kennedy is so perfect. LOL!
Troop Beverly Hills would be so AMAZING!!! I will say my daughter wanted to be SpiderMan one year and Chasing Fireflies has this really adorable SpiderGirl costume and she rocked it. Unfortunately it looks like they don’t have that cute tutu style anymore and now it’s a sequin dress. What? Not sure how I feel about that!
I love everything about this!
