I know, Meryl. I know. BUT I love florals regardless of the season.
I realize that most don’t share my love of wearing foliage year-round, so I thought I’d give you some wardrobe inspiration for the spring. You might not be going anywhere. You might still be hunkering down, but at the very least, your clothes can make you feel like you’re experiencing Easter in Rotterdam. Do I own this kimono? No. Do kimonos make me think of Schmidt and Mrs. Roper? Yes. Is that reason enough to buy one? Yes.
Often when I’m in a dressing room, I’ll send a picture of myself in a potential purchase with the caption, “Is this too ‘I killed the couch’?” There is a fine line, and I recognize that I cross it often. Is this romper too “I killed Blanche Devereaux’s comforter”? Perhaps, but in my opinion, that’s half of the appeal.
J. Crew Factory skirts are my favorite to wear to work. This is one that I have from J. Crew and get compliments on it every time I wear it.
The best part about most of the skirts from J. Crew Factory? Elastic waist. Ok. Confession time. As I’m writing this, as with most things in my life, a song popped in my head that would fit what I’m saying. I go to Google to get the exact lyrics to “Any Man of Mine” by Shania Twain. I thought the lyric was, “Any man of mine’ll say it fits just right when elastic says it’s just a little too tight.” The lyric is definitely, “Any man of mine’ll say it fits just right when last year’s dress is just a little too tight.” My childhood is all a lie. Caroline and I used to dance to that song in our backyard with her cassette player. WHAT WAS IT ALL ABOUT IF I DIDN’T KNOW THE WORDS?!
Fine. Here’s a skirt from J. Crew Factory that you might like.
This is NOT a drill. This top has two of my favorite features in clothing: a floral and a Peter Pan collar. Consider it added to cart. The Bible tells us that God will supply our every need, and I so feel that in this moment.
Ok. I wanted to round this off with a dress, and I’m obsessed. What a perfect little number to wear while you sit at home and rewatch Tiger King. So adorable.
Alright. Go with the FLOral. I promise you with my tulips that if you haven’t botany thing from this post, you’ll be saying “What in carnation?” because spring will be over. Don’t miss your plants.
