June, where did you go? Summer, listen up. I need you at sloth speed pronto.
- What I’m Eating
Give me all the fresh vegetables during the summer. Pluck them from the garden and roast them, and I’m a happy camper. I just told my mom that when I am in town for the Fourth of July, I’d love it if she’d make Trisha Yearwood’s vegetable pie. If you have never made that, you should. I mean it has a lot of cheese, but it has vegetables, so it’s healthy.
I also went to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream the other night, and they have a wedding cake flavor for the summer. Run. Don’t walk to your nearest Jeni’s.
2. What I’m Reminiscing About
Today is my sister, Leila’s, anniversary. I will never forget that hot June day. I’m also still surprised I still don’t have evidence of those aggressive tan lines. No blurred lines here, Robin Thicke.
3. What I’m Loving
Slow mornings. I know that will come to a screeching halt a lot quicker than I want so I am soaking up morning walk and talks with my best gal, Whitney.
4. What I’ve Been Up To
Moving into my cute little crooked roof house. And adding all the things to cart. Like this white lamp.
5. What I’m Dreading
Unpacking everything in the cute little crooked roof house. The yarn won’t unpack itself.
6. What I’m Working On
I’m crocheting a very cute baby blanket for Baby Elsie who is due any day now. I’m not going to share that blanket, but here is some past yarn work.
7. What I’m Excited About
My upcoming trip BACK to Indiana to get Mama Oprah’s mint chocolate cake.
8. What I’m Watching/Reading
Olympic trials. I wanted to be a gymnast so badly during the 1996 games because obviously the magnificent seven. The uneven bars blow. my. mind.
9. What I’m Listening To
Olivia Rodrigo. On repeat. I’m 31. Judge me.
10. What I’m Wearing
All the red, white, and blue. Obviously.
11. What I’m Doing This Weekend:
We Independence Day pretty hard around here, so I’m going to hit up as many fireworks displays as possible.
12. What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
I’m going to Costa Rica.
There was a moment in May when I didn’t think I was going to get to go because my passport expired in June. But shoutout to the kind lady at the USPS off Piedmont Road who helped me fill out a money order so I could expedite that thing. It’s here. I’m going. Bring on the rainforest and fresh coffee.
July, you old son of a gun. Listen to me. We are going slow. Slow and steady. Got it?
