Folding is very important in my world.
There are few things that I’m meticulous about, but folding is one of them.As a child, I’d often refold my laundry after my mom had made her attempt. Don’t look at my computer files. Don’t look in my purse. Don’t look at my desk at work. But you give me a sheet set, and I am like a surgeon with my precision. Caroline and my mother frequently enlist my services when I visit.
I’m going to show you how I fold the ever dreaded fitted sheet.
Step one: Get your sheet spread out. I got these from Target and I LOVE the fact that they look like ones my grandmother would have had on her spare bed.
Step two: Take your index finger and put it on the corner of the floral design until you feel the seam. Your hand will be on the design, but you’ll be looking at the inside.
Step three: Take your seam and put it inside the seam of the opposite side, so they are tucked within one another.
Step four: Repeat with the other ends.
Step Five: Tighten the ends that are not rounded off.
Step Six: Fold over the rounded section about a third of the way over.
Fold your sheet over for a final third.
Step Eight: Fold it in half.
Step Nine: Fold in half again.
Step Ten: Marvel at your handiwork and applaud yourself like the goddess you are.
It takes some practice, but the payoff is worth it. Come on, Mom. I know you’re reading. I believe in you!
