We’ve already told you that fall equals Gilmore Girls so I called on some of my favorite Stars Hollow residents to provide me with the intro to today’s post. Let’s get some apple recipes in before everything becomes gingerbread and peppermint.

This technically isn’t considered a recipe, but it’s delicious, and you need to do it. I had never made caramel apples until I became friends with Jennifer. She makes them every year, and I now look forward to it every year. Last year, our Bible study went to her house and made them. She provided the apples and caramels, and we all brought a topping. This would be such a fun thing to do with kids and especially since Halloween activities are so up in the air this week.

We used these sticks and these caramels, and then your toppings are up to you.
Melt the caramel on the stove. Roll your apple in it. Add your toppings accordingly. We used toasted coconut, melted chocolate, chopped nuts, sprinkles. Last year we chopped up different candy bars and Oreos to add to the mix. They weren’t as pretty, but they were delicious.

Pro tip: Store them in the refrigerator and pull out a few minutes before you want to eat. Then cut them into slices.
Our mother, Paula Stewart, buys caramel apples from QVC every Christmas. They are delicious, but they are $25 an apple. These are a more budget friendly option if you aren’t Kris Jenner or Paula Stewart.

Do you need easy in your life? Of course you do. I’m sure everyone has an apple pie recipe in their repertoire, but maybe you want a different one. This recipe is completely fool proof but delicious.
I won’t say who even though I know this person would never read this, but a few years ago, we had someone over for dinner, and I made this for dessert. The “who” couldn’t believe they had a homemade pie in front of them because this “who” and those accompanying him/her always bought a pie from the store. In my opinion, store bought pie is one of the 7 deadly sins. It also should be said that they always add to this sin by not even warming the pie. Who wants room temperature apple pie??? Bless their hearts. They just need proper pie education. While that story doesn’t set up this recipe to sound like its impressive since it wasn’t too hard to impress “who,” it will always be a winner. Guaranteed. Plus it isn’t fussy like Paula’s QVC apple habit and will be ready so quickly.
Ok. On to the recipe.
Simple Apple Pie
-your favorite pie crust (Although I fully endorse making your own, I will let it slide if you buy a crust…as long as the pie is warm before serving.)
-6 apples (Granny Smith or Honey crisp)
-1/2 cup sugar
-1 teaspoon cinnamon
-pinch of nutmeg
Topping:
-1/2 cup white sugar
-1/4 cup brown sugar
-1/3 cup softened butter
-a couple dashes of cinnamon
- Peel and chop the apples.
- Mix the apples with the sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg and put in pie crust.
- Mix topping ingredients until crumbly. A pastry cutter helps in the process. Then evenly place on top of apples.
- Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Easy peasy!
An apple a day….

Just so no one thinks I’m insane, let me fact check Kat and sadly state that she lied. The apples I buy are a little pricey, but THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT $25 an apple! I ordered them last week, and they’re closer to $5 a piece, Kitty. But I’ve heard that Jen’s are delicious too and would be so much fun.
Both look delicious!
Oh my goodness, I hate to admit this but I am one of those people that buy pies from the store; however, I might be able to pull off this easy apple pie! Thanks for sharing! And, I vow to heat up my store bought pies from now on🤯 Bhahahaha!
