Thanks for joining us today! We are here with a Friday post full of wisdom and spiritual guidance. Nah. Kat talks about bras.
Here are our favorites from the week.
Kat
* My friend, Jennifer, is a fantastic gift giver. She will give you something and you’ll think, “How have I made it my whole life without this?” The past two years for my birthday, Jennifer has taken it upon herself to care for my breasticles. Let me explain. Jennifer is one of my running buddies and knows the importance of a good sports bra. She gave me a Lululemon one for my 29th birthday, and it’s for sure a favorite. This past year for my 30th she gave me these bralettes and a Barbara Bush biography. (She knows me so well, and I know how to rage when I enter a new decade). They are my absolute favorite. I wear them several times a week.
*My sophomore year of high school I succumbed to peer pressure and tried out for cheerleading. It was not competitive. Everyone who tried out was going to make the squad. I remember leaving the first day of tryouts and crying in my mom’s car because I was the worst one. Stewarts don’t have rhythm, but we have fun. And that’s exactly what I had for three years of high school. A lot of fun.

My first year cheering I was a flyer then I discovered Publix cheesecake came in packs of two, and I was demoted to being a base. My senior year at cheerleading camp we were at West Georgia College in a gym without air conditioning, and I was supposed to catch my friend, Brittany during our stunts. Let me just say that we were a tad sweaty because #georgia #summer #noairflow, and Brittany kept sliding through my arms like I was a fish monger and she was my catch of the day.

All this to say, I’ve become one of those people who is obsessed with Cheer on Netflix. Have you watched? It is incredible what they are able to do. I don’t think they know about the deal on Publix cheesecake. Someone needs to go to Navarro and tell them.

*Caroline gave me this necklace a few years ago, but it’s still a favorite. I wear it all the time. It makes a statement, but it’s a simple statement. And it gives me Laverne and Shirley vibes which I’m always chasing. I’m gonna make my dreams come true. Schlemiel! Schlimazel!

*My first favorite is a shower cap. Yes, a shower cap. I try not to wash my hair everyday, but it often becomes a frizzy disaster from the steam in the shower, and so then it just goes in a ponytail. This shower cap prevents me from looking like Monica when they go to Barbados for Ross’ paleontology convention. I’ve tried other ones before, and they were pointless.

*I discovered this drink this week, and it’s definitely a favorite. I like Diet Dr. Pepper. I hate that I do. Back in the days of Snackwells cookies and WOW potato chips, I thought diet drinks were a good choice. So, I’ve had to quit them and stop drinking anything soda related. When I feel the need to sow my wild oats though, I’ll drink one.
Now I have this option. If you’ve never tried these Zevia drinks you should; they’re made with Stevia instead of sugar. I won’t be pounding them everyday, but it’s a good option every once in a while that doesn’t have caramel color to coat my intestines. (I paint with words, don’t I?)

*My next favorites involve our dog, Millie. We got Millie in 2016 from the Humane Society. I had talked to a mom of one of my students, and she was very involved with the Humane Society and went on the news every week with a different dog to try and get them adopted. I told her we were wanting a dog. She emailed me right after Christmas and said I should go meet the sweetest dog named “Bam-Bam.” She had put her on the news right after Christmas and couldn’t believe no one had come to get her because she was so great. She also told me right after Millie Bam-Bam was found, she was sent to a shelter and was scheduled to be put down, but she was the staff’s favorite, so they sent her over to the Humane Society. Well, that was enough to pull at my heart strings. So, we went to meet her and immediately knew she was for us. Then we immediately changed her name.
She is the BEST dog. So, every January we celebrate her “gotcha day” by giving her a McDonald’s cheeseburger. (The past few years she’s upgraded to a quarter pounder) It’s always a favorite picture of the year.

*Finally, this favorite is proof that Millie is the queen of our house. We just moved into a new house, and Millie has been a little nervous. Our old house had lower windows, and she always laid by the window in Claire’s room and stared outside the majority of her day while we were gone. Our new house doesn’t have that, so we had to remedy that because having a sad dog just wouldn’t do.
I married a man who outshines me in many ways. He knows how to do, build, fix anything. I could tell him I really need a gazebo in the pantry, or I want him to build a TV console that looks just like the White House, and he would do it. This window project wasn’t one of the more challenging ideas I’ve given him, but he did it, and we love it. Now, our queen can reign on her throne.

Have a great weekend and come back on Monday!
